베스트로핀 단백질은 막관통(transmembrane) 단백질로, 높은 방향족 잔기 함량과 불변의 Arg-Phe-Pro (RFP) 모티프를 포함하는 상동 영역을 공유합니다.
4개의 베스트로핀 유전자는 8개의 RFP-TM 도메인 코딩 엑손 크기가 거의 동일하며, 엑손-인트론 경계도 매우 보존되어 있습니다. 각 유전자는 길이가 다른 고유한 3' 말단을 갖습니다.
