Target Information
H2AX is a variant of the H2A protein family and a component of the histone octamer in nucleosomes. It is phosphorylated by kinases such as ATM and ATR in the PI3K pathway. Gamma-H2AX formation is the first step in recruiting and localizing DNA repair proteins at double-strand breaks (DSBs). These foci can be visualized as biomarkers representing DNA damage and are widely used in studies of genomic instability and DNA repair mechanisms.
