Product Specific Information
Description:
The HIP1 monoclonal antibody reacts with the human CD42b molecule, a 135 kDa transmembrane protein also known as platelet gpIb.
Applications Reported:
The HIP1 antibody has been reported for use in flow cytometric analysis.
Applications Tested:
Pre-titrated and validated for flow cytometric analysis of human platelets. Recommended usage: 5 µL (0.5 µg) per test in a final volume of 100 µL. Suitable cell number range: 10⁵–10⁸ cells/test.
Fluorochrome Information:
Super Bright 600 is a tandem dye excited by the 405 nm violet laser and emits at 600 nm. Recommended detection filter: 610/20 bandpass.
Usage Notes:
- When using multiple Super Bright dyes, use Super Bright Complete Staining Buffer (Product # SB-4401) to minimize non-specific interactions.
- Light sensitivity: Protect vial and stained samples from light.
- Fixation: Samples can be stored in IC Fixation Buffer (Product # 00-8222) or 1-step Fix/Lyse Solution (Product # 00-5333) for up to 3 days at 2–8°C in the dark.

Target Information
CD42b is a platelet activation marker involved in coagulation and aggregation. It interacts with extracellular matrix and adhesion molecules, forming part of the GPIb-IX-V receptor complex, which is essential for platelet tethering to thrombogenic surfaces. CD42b binds von Willebrand factor (VWF) and other coagulation factors, contributing to thrombus formation and metastasis. It is expressed on platelets and megakaryocytes. Mutations in CD42b are associated with Bernard-Soulier syndrome and platelet-type von Willebrand disease.
