Product Specific Information

  • In Western Blot, recognizes a band at approximately 98 kDa and may also detect an ~80 kDa beta form.
  • Antigen retrieval (EDTA buffer, microwave) is recommended prior to IHC on paraffin tissues.
  • Does not immunoprecipitate.
  • For IHC and ICC/IF, use 1:200 dilution with tyramide amplification; demonstrates nuclear staining.
  • Suggested positive control: P3X (murine plasmocytoma) cell lysates.

Target Information

Blimp-1 (B lymphocyte maturation protein-1) is a nuclear protein containing five zinc fingers in its carboxy terminus. It functions as a transcriptional repressor essential for terminal differentiation of B lymphocytes and monocyte/macrophages. Blimp-1 is also expressed in terminally differentiated epithelial cells, retinal neurons, and other lineage cells. It has been implicated in the repression of beta-interferon (IFN-beta) and c-myc gene expression.
