Product Specific Information
This antibody recognizes an extracellular epitope of CD36 (GPIIIb), an 85–113 kDa integral membrane glycoprotein expressed on platelets, macrophages, endothelial cells, early erythroid cells, and megakaryocytes.
Target Information
CD36, also known as scavenger receptor class B member 3, is expressed on macrophages, platelets, and adipocytes. It plays key roles in lipid metabolism, inflammation, and atherosclerosis by mediating recognition and uptake of ligands such as oxidized LDL, long-chain fatty acids, and apoptotic cells. CD36 also functions as a receptor for thrombospondin and contributes to Plasmodium falciparum cytoadherence. Mutations in this gene are linked to platelet glycoprotein deficiency and coronary heart disease 7.
