This antibody recognizes an extracellular epitope of CD314 / NKG2D, a 42 kDa C-type lectin-like activating receptor expressed by NK cells, gamma/delta T cells, and CD8+ T cells.
Target Information
Natural killer (NK) cells are lymphocytes that can mediate lysis of certain tumor cells and virus-infected cells without previous activation. NK cells regulate specific humoral and cell-mediated immunity and preferentially express several calcium-dependent (C-type) lectins, which are implicated in NK cell function regulation.
The NKG2 gene encodes a member of the NKG2 family, characterized by a type II membrane orientation (extracellular C terminus) and a C-type lectin domain. The NKG2 gene family resides within the NK complex, a region containing several C-type lectin genes expressed in NK cells.
