Target Information
CHEK1 (CHK1) is a serine/threonine protein kinase involved in preventing replication when DNA integrity is compromised. It acts as a key mediator in the DNA damage-induced checkpoint network and is evolutionarily conserved to maintain genomic stability under genotoxic stress. Inhibition of CHK1 can induce mitotic catastrophe and apoptosis in p53-deficient cancer cells, making CHK1 a promising therapeutic target for cancer treatment, particularly in tumors lacking p53 function.
