Target Information
Dual specificity phosphatases (DUSPs) inactivate their target kinases by dephosphorylating both phosphoserine/threonine and phosphotyrosine residues. DUSPs are categorized into six subgroups based on sequence similarity: PRLs, Cdc14 phosphatases, PTENs, myotubularins, MKPs, and atypical DUSPs.
DUSP inhibitors can modulate MAPK and cellular responses in both positive and negative ways. The expression and activity of DUSP family members across cells and tissues regulate MAPK signaling intensity and duration, influencing physiological outcomes.
DUSP12 (YVH1, GKAP) contains a conserved DUSP catalytic domain and an extended C-terminal domain of unknown function, possibly related to glucokinase regulation. It is localized in the cytoplasm and nucleus.
