Description:
The HIR2 monoclonal antibody reacts with human glycophorin A, a sialoglycoprotein expressed by erythroid precursors and mature circulating red cells.
Applications Reported:
This HIR2 (GA-R2) antibody is reported for use in flow cytometric analysis.
Applications Tested:
This antibody has been pre-diluted and tested by flow cytometric analysis of diluted whole blood.
Recommended usage: 5 µL (0.25 µg) per test (in 100 µL final volume).
Cell number may range from 10⁵ to 10⁸ cells/test.
Fluorochrome Information:
Alexa Fluor 700 emits at 723 nm and is excited with the red laser (633–647 nm).
Recommended filters: 685 LP mirror and 710/20 band pass filter.
Ensure instrument compatibility before use.

Target Information
CD235a (Glycophorin A, GPA) is a single-pass membrane sialoglycoprotein expressed in mature erythrocytes and erythroid precursor cells.
It carries blood group M and N specificities and provides a mucin-like barrier minimizing red cell aggregation.
CD235a also serves as a receptor for Sandei virus, parvovirus, and Hsa (Streptococcus adhesin).
