Target Information
The 6x His tag is a synthetic oligopeptide consisting of six consecutive histidine residues (HHHHHH). It is commonly fused to the N- or C-terminal region of recombinant proteins to facilitate purification by immobilized metal affinity chromatography (IMAC).
His tag antibodies enable detection and immunoprecipitation of tagged recombinant proteins even when specific antibodies for the target protein are unavailable. The histidine cluster binds strongly to metal ions such as Ni²⁺, allowing purification of His-tagged proteins to homogeneity.
