Target Information
NOR-1 (NR4A3), a NR4 nerve growth factor-like receptor, influences neuronal development, T-cell apoptosis, and cancer progression. It binds to NBRE (NGFI-B response element) and regulates the pro-opiomelanocortin (POMC) gene. NOR-1 expression is rapidly but transiently induced by various stimuli. Downregulation of NOR-1 and related NGFI-B family members correlates with drug addiction-prone behavior in Lewis rats.
Three human protein isoforms have been documented: NOR-1, NOR-1β, and NOR-1 3′ variant.
