Target Information

Glutathione S-transferase M3 (GSTM3) is an enzyme encoded by the GSTM3 gene in humans. It belongs to the mu class of glutathione S-transferases, which play a role in detoxification of electrophilic compounds such as carcinogens, drugs, and environmental toxins through conjugation with glutathione.
The mu class genes are organized in a cluster on chromosome 1p13.3 and are highly polymorphic, influencing susceptibility to toxins and drug efficacy. Mutations in GSTM3 have been associated with a slight increase in certain cancers due to environmental toxin exposure.
