Cellular Localization	Cell membrane, nucleus, cytoplasm, perinuclear region, Golgi apparatus. Detected on plasma membrane lipid rafts. Accumulates in the nucleus by inhibition of CRM1-mediated nuclear export. Nuclear accumulation increases when kinase activity is inhibited. Trafficking from Golgi to plasma membrane is kinase domain-dependent but activity-independent and mediated by exocytic vesicular transport.
Background	This gene encodes a tyrosine protein kinase involved in the regulation of mast cell degranulation and erythroid differentiation. Alternatively spliced transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been identified. (RefSeq, Jul 2011)
