Target Information
TMED2 is a protein coding gene involved in vesicular protein trafficking. It mainly functions in the early secretory pathway and post-Golgi membranes, acting as a cargo receptor for secretory molecules and participating in vesicle coat formation. TMED2 is implicated in COPII vesicle-mediated anterograde transport of GPI-anchored proteins, working together with TMED10, and in COPI vesicle-mediated retrograde transport by regulating ARFGAP1 activity. It also plays a role in GPCR trafficking, CASR maturation, and Golgi apparatus organization, contributing to receptor resensitization and secretory biosynthesis.
