PPIL1 유전자는 peptidylprolyl isomerases (PPIases)로 알려진 cyclophilin 계열 단백질 패밀리에 속합니다.
Cyclophilin은 단백질 접힘, cyclosporin A에 의한 면역억제, HIV-1 바이러스 감염 과정에 관여하는 보존된 단백질 군입니다.
PPIL1 단백질은 다른 PPIase와의 유사성에 기반하여 단백질 접힘을 가속화하고, oligopeptide 내 proline imidic peptide 결합의 cis-trans 이성질화 반응을 촉매할 수 있습니다.
