Target Information
Msi2 (musashi homolog 2), also known as MSI2H, is a 328 amino acid protein localized in the cytoplasm and containing two RNA recognition motif (RRM) domains. It is expressed ubiquitously at low levels and functions as an RNA-binding protein that regulates target mRNA expression. Msi2 is implicated in stem cell proliferation and maintenance within the central nervous system and may play a role in brain tissue regeneration following injury. Chromosomal aberrations involving the Msi2 gene are linked to chronic myeloid leukemia progression. Multiple isoforms exist due to alternative splicing.
