This gene encodes a member of the F-box protein family, characterized by an approximately 40 amino acid F-box motif. F-box proteins are part of the ubiquitin protein ligase complex (SCF), which functions in phosphorylation-dependent ubiquitination.
F-box proteins are divided into three classes:
- Fbws: contain WD-40 domains
- Fbls: contain leucine-rich repeats
- Fbxs: contain other protein-protein interaction modules or no recognizable motifs
The protein encoded by this gene belongs to the Fbls class. Multiple alternatively spliced transcript variants have been identified, though the full-length nature of some variants remains undetermined.
