Product Specific Information
This antibody detects endogenous levels of ULK1 only when phosphorylated at Ser131.
Target Information
ULK1 is a serine/threonine protein kinase that plays a critical role during the initial stages of autophagy, a vital cellular response to nutrient starvation. The conserved C-terminal domain (CTD) of ULK1 regulates its localization and function. Knockdown of ULK1 inhibits autophagic response and rapamycin-induced autophagy, consistent with its role downstream of mTOR. ULK1 forms a complex with FIP200 and ATG13, essential for starvation-induced autophagy. Both FIP200 and ATG13 are necessary for proper ULK1 localization and stability. ULK1 is phosphorylated by the mTOR pathway in a nutrient starvation-regulated manner.
