Target Information
TRPCs, mammalian homologs of the Drosophila transient receptor potential (trp) protein, are ion channels that mediate capacitative calcium entry into the cell. TRP-PLIK functions as both an ion channel and a kinase, conducting calcium and monovalent cations to depolarize cells and increase intracellular calcium. Its kinase activity, necessary for channel function, depends on intracellular ATP and is lost in kinase mutants.
