Target Information

Cell-mediated immune responses are initiated by T lymphocytes that are stimulated by cognate peptides bound to MHC molecules on antigen-presenting cells (APC). Activated T cells express inhibitory receptors such as PD-1 (PDCD-1), which bind ligands PDL-1 and PDL-2 to downregulate immune activation. PD-1 signaling inhibits immune responses in the absence of danger signals such as LPS. PD1-deficient mice show hyperactivated immune systems and autoimmune phenotypes. Although PD-1 has a predicted molecular weight, it often migrates at a higher apparent weight in SDS-PAGE.
