Target Information
The protein encoded by this gene belongs to the cyclic nucleotide phosphodiesterase (PDE) family, specifically the PDE1 subfamily. Members of the PDE1 family are calmodulin-dependent enzymes stimulated by calcium-calmodulin complexes. PDE1B exhibits dual specificity for cAMP and cGMP, with a preference for cGMP as a substrate. These cyclic nucleotides regulate numerous physiological processes. Multiple alternatively spliced transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been described.
