This antibody detects endogenous levels of total Bestrophin 2.
Target Information
Best2 forms calcium-sensitive chloride channels and is permeable to bicarbonate. The Best2 gene is part of the bestrophin gene family of anion channels, sharing a conserved exon-intron structure but distinct 3' ends. Bestrophins are transmembrane proteins rich in aromatic residues, including an invariant arg-phe-pro motif. Mutations in the Best2 gene are associated with vitelliform macular dystrophy. Best2 is primarily expressed in the retinal pigment epithelium and colon. Diseases associated with BEST2 include Vitelliform Macular Dystrophy and Bestrophinopathy.
