Target Information
ATG5 (Autophagy Related 5)는 자가포식(autophagy)에 필수적인 단백질로, 세포 사멸(apoptosis) 과정에도 관여합니다.
이 단백질은 산화 손상 후 미토콘드리아 품질 관리, 선천적 항바이러스 면역 반응의 음성 조절, 림프구 발달 및 증식, MHC II 항원 제시, 지방세포 분화 등 다양한 세포 과정에 참여합니다.
ATG12와의 결합을 통해 오토파고좀 형성에 관여하며, FADD 단백질과 상호작용하여 자가포식 관련 세포 사멸을 유도합니다.
또한 RIG-I 및 VISA(IPS-1)와 같은 선천 면역 단백질과 결합하여 type I 인터페론 생성을 억제하고, 바이러스 복제를 허용합니다.
ATG5 기능 이상은 소뇌성 운동실조증(spinocerebellar ataxia) 등과 관련이 있습니다.
