Description:
The 16B1 antibody reacts with human CD144, also known as VE-cadherin and cadherin-5. This calcium-dependent adhesion molecule is localized at intercellular boundaries of endothelial cells in blood and lymphatic vessels, playing a role in vascular permeability and remodeling.
Applications Reported:
Reported for use in flow cytometric analysis.
Applications Tested:
Pre-diluted and tested by flow cytometric analysis of Human Umbilical Vein Endothelial Cells (HUVEC). Recommended usage: 5 µL (0.25 µg) per test in 100 µL final volume. Suitable for 10⁵–10⁸ cells/test.
Fluorochrome Information:
APC-eFluor 780 emits at 780 nm and is excited with the Red laser (633–647 nm). Ensure instrument compatibility with this fluorochrome.
Light-sensitive: protect from light to avoid photo-induced oxidation.
Fixation:
Samples can be stored in:

Target Information
VE-cadherin is a member of the cadherin superfamily located in a six-cadherin cluster on chromosome 16. It functions as a calcium-dependent cell-cell adhesion glycoprotein with five extracellular cadherin repeats, a transmembrane region, and a conserved cytoplasmic tail. It plays an important role in endothelial cell cohesion and intercellular junction organization. An alternative splice variant has been described, though the full-length sequence has not been determined.
