Target Information
Mucins are high molecular weight glycoproteins composed of approximately 80% carbohydrate and 20% protein core. Gastric mucin (MUC6) is normally expressed in the human gastrointestinal tract. Re-expression of gastric mucin during colonic carcinogenesis is associated with the reappearance of the peptide core of gastric or fetal colonic mucins.
