Target Information

Chromosome 11 contains approximately 135 million base pairs and about 1,400 genes, representing around 4% of the human genome. It is rich in gene and disease associations. The Atm gene, located on chromosome 11, regulates cell cycle arrest and apoptosis following DNA double-strand breaks; mutations cause ataxia-telangiectasia. Mutations in HBB lead to sickle cell anemia and β-thalassemia. WT1 mutations are linked to Wilms’ tumor, WAGR syndrome, and Denys-Drash syndrome. Other disorders associated with chromosome 11 include Jervell and Lange-Nielsen syndrome, Jacobsen syndrome, Niemann-Pick disease, hereditary angioedema, and Smith-Lemli-Opitz syndrome.
