This product contains purified recombinant human brain FABP protein with an N-terminal hexahistidine tag.
It may be used as a positive control in many immunological assays.
Target Information
Fatty acid binding proteins (FABP) are small (approximately 13–14 kDa) intracellular proteins with a high degree of tissue specificity.
FABPs bind long-chain fatty acids and play an important role in intracellular fatty acid utilization.
There are at least six distinct types of FABP, each showing specific tissue expression patterns.
Due to their small size, FABPs can rapidly leak from damaged or dying cells, leading to elevated serum levels.
Liver FABP serves as a sensitive marker for hepatocyte damage both in vitro and in vivo and is useful in toxicology assays and transplantation monitoring.
