Target Information
The armadillo (ARM) repeat family of proteins is related to the Drosophila melanogaster armadillo protein, essential for wingless signal transduction. ARM proteins participate in cell migration, proliferation, tissue maintenance, and tumorigenesis, functioning in signal transduction and maintaining cell structure.
ARMCX2 (armadillo repeat containing, X-linked 2), also known as ALEX2, is a 632 amino acid single-pass membrane protein containing three ARM repeats. It is highly expressed in testis, brain, ovary, heart, colon, spleen, and prostate, where it may play a role in tumor suppression. The ARMCX2 gene maps to human chromosome X, which spans approximately 153 million base pairs and includes over 1,000 genes.
