Target Information
Aquaporin 12 (AQP12)는 포유류 AQP 패밀리 중 가장 최근에 확인된 구성원으로, 췌장 선세포(pancreatic acinar cells)에서 특이적으로 발현됩니다.
시험관 내 발현 연구 결과, AQP12는 세포 내 위치에 존재함이 확인되었습니다.
AQP12의 생리적 역할을 규명하기 위해 AQP12 유전자 결손(KO) 마우스를 생성한 결과, 정상 조건에서는 WT와 KO 마우스 간의 성장, 혈액 화학, 췌장액 함량, 조직학적 차이가 없었습니다.
그러나 CCK-8 유사체를 투여하여 췌장염을 유도했을 때, AQP12-KO 마우스는 WT보다 심각한 병리적 손상을 보였습니다.
