Target Information
CD79a is a disulfide-linked heterodimer that includes the B29 (CD79b) polypeptide. It functions as part of the B lymphocyte antigen receptor complex, associating with Ig-alpha and Ig-beta to enable B-cell antigen receptor expression and signaling. CD79a appears at the pre-B cell stage and remains through the plasma cell stage as an intracellular component. It is expressed in most precursor B-cell acute leukemias, B-cell lines, B-cell lymphomas, and some myelomas, but absent in myeloid or T-cell lines. Diseases associated with CD79a include Agammaglobulinemia 3 and Agammaglobulinemia, Non-Bruton type.
