Target Information
CD79a is a disulfide-linked heterodimer that includes the B29 (CD79b) polypeptide. It functions as part of the B lymphocyte antigen receptor complex, associating with immunoglobulin molecules and the Ig-alpha/Ig-beta components necessary for B-cell receptor expression and signaling. CD79a expression begins at the pre-B cell stage and continues through the plasma cell stage, where it becomes intracellular. It is present in most precursor B-cell acute leukemias, B-cell lines, lymphomas, and some myelomas, but absent in myeloid or T-cell lines. Diseases associated with CD79a include Agammaglobulinemia 3 and Non-Bruton type Agammaglobulinemia.
