Target Information
Calcineurin plays a key role in T-cell receptor-mediated signal transduction. The encoded protein binds specifically to the activated form of calcineurin, inhibiting its signal transduction. It is localized in the nucleus and contains a leucine zipper domain and several PEST motifs, which promote targeted degradation. Alternative splicing produces multiple transcript variants encoding two isoforms.
