Target Information
Autophagy is a process of bulk degradation of cellular proteins through an autophagosomal–lysosomal pathway, essential for normal growth control and defective in some tumor cells. It helps preserve cellular nutrients under starvation and maintains cytosolic component turnover. This process is negatively regulated by TOR (Target of Rapamycin) via phosphorylation of autophagy protein APG1.
ATG9B plays a key role in autophagy and is highly expressed in the placenta and pituitary gland.
