Target Information
This gene encodes the fifth largest subunit of RNA polymerase II, which synthesizes messenger RNA in eukaryotes. The subunit is shared by the other two DNA-directed RNA polymerases and exists in two-fold molar excess compared to other polymerase subunits. Interaction between this subunit and a hepatitis virus transactivating protein suggests that transcriptional activators can interact with the polymerase through this subunit. A pseudogene is located on chromosome 11.
