Recombinant rabbit monoclonal antibodies are produced using in vitro expression systems. These systems clone antibody DNA sequences from immunoreactive rabbits, followed by screening to select optimal clones for production.

This antibody specifically recognizes Mouse CD2.

Target Information

CD2 (LFA-2) is a monomeric surface antigen (MW 45–58 kDa) expressed on human T-lymphocytes and some natural killer cells, but not on B lymphocytes. It is one of the earliest T-cell markers, present on more than 95% of thymocytes.

Monoclonal antibodies against CD2 inhibit rosette formation with sheep erythrocytes, indicating CD2’s role as or association with the erythrocyte receptor. Interaction between CD2 and CD58 stabilizes adhesion between T cells and antigen-presenting or target cells. Although the affinity of CD2–CD58 is relatively low in solution, it provides strong adhesion at the cell interface. T cell activation increases CD2 expression and mobility, enhancing CD2–CD58 contact and strengthening intercellular adhesion.

CD2 deficiency can reduce intestinal inflammation and aid infection control. Diseases associated with CD2 dysfunction include penile squamous cell carcinoma and immune deficiency due to thymus absence.
