Product Specific Information
- Immunohistochemistry (PFA fixed): Incubate antibody for 30 min at room temperature.
- For formalin-fixed tissues: Heat tissue sections in 10 mM Tris with 1 mM EDTA (pH 9.0) for 45 min at 95°C, then cool at room temperature for 20 min before staining.
Target Information
Nestin is a Class VI intermediate filament protein abundantly expressed in the developing central nervous system (CNS) and early embryonic neuroepithelial stem cells.
It serves as a key marker for:
- Stem/progenitor cells
- Glioma and tumor endothelial cells
- Angiogenesis evaluation in tumors
Highly specific Nestin antibodies are useful for:
- Characterizing progenitor cell differentiation
- Enhancing therapeutic potential of neural stem/progenitor cells in CNS disease research
- Identifying neuroepithelial tumor cells
Nestin is also expressed in pancreatic hematopoietic stem cell populations and considered a novel angiogenesis marker in proliferating endothelial cells of colorectal cancer tissue.
