Target Information

Poly(A)-binding proteins (PABPs) bind to the poly(A) tail present at the 3′ ends of most eukaryotic mRNAs.
PABPC4 (inducible PABP) is an activation-induced T-cell mRNA encoding a protein whose expression increases approximately 5-fold upon T-cell activation.
It contains four RNA-binding domains and a proline-rich C terminus, localized mainly in the cytoplasm.
PABPC4 is implicated in regulating the stability of labile mRNA species in activated T cells and may also function in translation regulation in platelets and megakaryocytes.
Alternatively spliced transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been identified.
