Target Information
In eukaryotes, phosphorylation and dephosphorylation of proteins on serine and threonine residues regulate diverse cellular functions such as division, homeostasis, and apoptosis. Protein phosphatases, including PP1, PP2A, PP2B (calcineurin), and PP2C, are key regulators in these processes.
PP2A enzymes consist of catalytic subunits (PP2A alpha and PP2A beta) forming trimeric complexes with regulatory and variable subunits. Another related phosphatase, PPX (PP4), is a proposed member of a novel PP family.
