STAT5 alpha는 STAT 전사인자 패밀리에 속하는 단백질로, 사이토카인 및 성장인자 자극에 의해 인산화되어 핵으로 이동해 전사 활성 인자로 작용합니다. IL2, IL3, IL7, GM-CSF, erythropoietin, thrombopoietin 등 다양한 리간드에 의해 활성화되며, 세포 생존 및 성장 조절에 중요한 역할을 합니다.
STAT5 alpha는 STAT5 beta와 96%의 아미노산 서열 유사성을 가지며, 대부분의 조직에서 함께 발현됩니다. 생식, 수유, 면역 기능, 체성 성장 등 다양한 생리적 기능에 관여합니다.
