This antibody has specificity for Human PRDM2/KMT8.


Target Information

PRDM2, a member of the nuclear/histone methyltransferase superfamily, contains an N-terminal PR domain, an Rb-binding motif, eight Kruppel-like zinc finger motifs, a nuclear hormone-receptor binding motif, and a C-terminal PR-domain binding motif.
It is ubiquitously expressed at low levels and exists in two isoforms:

  • RIZ1 (280 kDa): Contains PR domain
  • RIZ2 (250 kDa): Lacks PR domain

PRDM2 acts as a tumor suppressor, playing a key role in cell growth and differentiation. It binds to Retinoblastoma protein, estrogen receptor, GATA-3, and the TPA-responsive element (MTE) of the Heme-oxygenase-1 gene.
It influences the pathogenesis of Retinoblastoma, transcriptional regulation during neuronal differentiation, transactivation of the Heme-oxygenase-1 gene, and serves as a specific effector of estrogen action.
Mutations and hypermethylation can lead to its inactivation in various human cancers, suggesting its potential as a biomarker.
