Product Specific Information
This antibody reacts with native Cytochrome C, but does not recognize denatured Cytochrome C. It recognizes a region near amino acid 62 of rat Cytochrome C.
Target Information
Cytochrome C is an electron transport protein located in the mitochondrial intermembrane space, playing a key role in oxidative phosphorylation and ATP production. Upon apoptotic stimulation, Cytochrome C is released into the cytosol, where it binds apoptotic protease activating factor to initiate procaspase-9 activation. Cytosolic Cytochrome C subsequently activates caspase-3, a key effector of apoptosis.
