Antibody 33-8600 detects the Gal4 DNA Binding Domain by western blot, immunoprecipitation, and immunofluorescence. Recognizes amino acids 1–147 of the GAL4 DNA binding region.
Target Information
GAL4 is a transcriptional activator involved in galactose catabolism.
- DNA binding domain: amino acids 1–74, containing a zinc finger motif.
- Amino acids 1–147 bind DNA in vitro with higher affinity than 1–74.
- GAL4 (1–147) binds a specific 17 bp nucleotide sequence but does not activate transcription alone.
- Activation requires either activating region I (aa 148–238) or activating region II (aa 768–881).
