Target Information

GAPDH (Glyceraldehyde-3-phosphate dehydrogenase) is a catalytic enzyme involved in glycolysis, existing as a tetramer of identical 37-kDa subunits. It catalyzes the reversible reduction of 1,3-bisphosphoglycerate to glyceraldehyde 3-phosphate in the presence of NADPH.
Beyond glycolysis, GAPDH plays roles in DNA replication, repair, RNA export, membrane fusion, and microtubule bundling. It is implicated in apoptosis, neurodegenerative diseases, and cancer-related processes. GAPDH is also known to interact with amyloid precursor protein and Huntingtin protein.
Due to its high expression in most tissues, GAPDH is widely used as a protein loading control in Western blot analysis.
