Target Information
The CDC27 protein is a component of the anaphase-promoting complex (APC), a conserved multi-subunit E3 ubiquitin ligase that regulates progression through mitosis by promoting cyclin B degradation. It shares strong similarity with yeast Cdc27 and fission yeast nuc2 proteins. CDC27 contains tetratricopeptide repeat (TPR) domains involved in protein-protein interactions and interacts with mitotic checkpoint proteins such as Mad2, p55CDC, and BUBR1, contributing to mitotic timing control. Multiple alternatively spliced transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been identified.
