Target Information
The CDC27 gene encodes a protein that is a component of the anaphase-promoting complex (APC), composed of eight highly conserved subunits in eukaryotic cells. APC catalyzes the formation of cyclin B–ubiquitin conjugates, essential for ubiquitin-mediated proteolysis of B-type cyclins.
CDC27 and other APC components contain TPR (tetratricopeptide repeat) domains, facilitating protein–protein interactions. This protein interacts with mitotic checkpoint regulators such as Mad2, p55CDC, and BUBR1, contributing to mitosis timing control.
Alternative splicing results in multiple isoforms of this gene.
