Target Information
ZFPM1 is a transcription regulator that plays an essential role in erythroid and megakaryocytic cell differentiation. It acts as a cofactor forming heterodimers with GATA family transcription factors (GATA1, GATA2, GATA3), which can activate or repress transcription depending on cellular context. It is involved in regulation of genes such as NFE2, ITGA2B, and globin genes, while repressing KLF1. ZFPM1 may also play roles in gonadal gene regulation and cardiac development in conjunction with ZFPM2/FOG2.
