Target Information

RAB5 belongs to the small GTPase Rab family, key regulators of intracellular membrane trafficking—from vesicle formation to membrane fusion.
Rabs cycle between inactive GDP-bound and active GTP-bound forms, recruiting downstream effectors responsible for vesicle formation, movement, tethering, and fusion.
RAB5A is required for fusion of plasma membranes and early endosomes, contributes to filopodia extension, and regulates exosomal release of SDCBP, CD63, PDCD6IP, and syndecan.
It also regulates maturation of apoptotic cell-containing phagosomes, likely downstream of DYN2 and PIK3C3.
