Target Information
Casein kinase II (CK2) is a serine/threonine protein kinase found in all eukaryotic cells, suggesting essential cellular functions. The holoenzyme forms a tetramer with two catalytic alpha or alpha′ subunits and two regulatory beta subunits.
CK2 phosphorylates key intracellular signaling proteins involved in tumor suppression (p53, PTEN) and tumorigenesis (myc, jun, NF-κB). It also regulates Wnt signaling via β-catenin phosphorylation and PI3K/Akt pathways.
