Target Information
CACNA1D (also known as PASNA, SANDD, or Cav1.3) encodes the alpha-1D subunit of voltage-dependent calcium channels. These channels mediate calcium ion entry into excitable cells and regulate processes such as muscle contraction, neurotransmitter release, and gene expression. They are composed of multiple subunits (alpha-1, beta, alpha-2/delta, and gamma), with the alpha-1 subunit forming the pore and determining channel properties. Multiple transcript variants encoding distinct isoforms exist for this gene.
