The FBXW11 gene encodes a member of the F-box protein family, characterized by an approximately 40 amino acid motif known as the F-box. F-box proteins are part of the ubiquitin protein ligase complex SCF (SKP1–Cullin–F-box), which functions in phosphorylation-dependent ubiquitination.
F-box proteins are categorized into three classes:

1. Fbws – containing WD-40 domains
2. Fbls – containing leucine-rich repeats
3. Fbxs – containing other interaction modules or no recognizable motifs

FBXW11 belongs to the Fbws class and includes multiple WD40 repeats. The gene contains at least 14 exons and produces 3 transcript variants via alternative splicing.
